LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 21)—William Niederst, president of synthetic rubber producer Zeon Chemicals L.P. and the first Westerner to serve as a director of parent Zeon Corp., has retired. The company said an Executive Management Council headed by Yutaka Otawa, senior managing director of Zeon Corp., will replace Niederst on an interim basis. Niederst started in the rubber industry in 1963, and joined Zeon when the Japanese company bought the SR diviion of B.F. Goodrich.
