BRUSSELS, Belgium (Dec. 20)—Belgian chemicals and pharmaceuticals group Solvay S.A. has entered talks with Italy's Montedison Group to acquire fluorinated chemical products maker Ausimont and its holding company Agora. Ausimont reports annual sales of about $540 million and has 2,000 employees at operations in Europe and the U.S. Solvay's fluoropolymer business manufactures vinylidene fluoride polymers for areas such as offshore engineering, fiber optic cables, chemical engineering and lithium ion batteries.
