VIENNA, Austria (Dec. 19)—Semperit A.G. will acquire full ownership of Italian hose maker Roiter S.p.A. Rovigo, subject to approval by Austrian cartel authorities. The deal involves the purchase of a 40-percent holding in Roiter from its main shareholder, Tube.ro S.A., and all remaining shares from two other shareholder groups at the start of 2002. With sales in 2000 of about $6.5 million, Roiter employs 65 at its plant near Padua. The facility produces about 3.6 million feet of mandrel-built industrial hose annually, according to Semperit. The Italian firm also includes Spanish distribution company Mangueras Tecnicas Roiter S.A., which supplies hose produced by Roiter, hose-assemblies and other related products. Roiter's products will be integrated in the Semperit product range, while Semperit plans to market its industrial hose and elastomer sheeting through Roiter's distribution channels.
