AKRON (Dec. 19)—Goodyear will nearly triple capacity at its Dalian, China, high-performance tire plant. The $120 million, five-year project will boost capacity to more than 5.3 million tires, meeting the increased demand in the original equipment and replacement markets in China, Goodyear said. Goodyear Dalian supplies high-performance tires to several auto makers in the country, including Volkswagen A.G., Audi, General Motors Corp. and Citroen. In addition, the company's nationwide retail distribution network of tire outlets is expected to expand to more than 2,100 stores from 1,600 by 2005.
