2001 will be considered a transition year for Pirelli Tire North America. The U.S. subsidiary of Italy´s Pirelli S.p.A. closed its Hanford, Calif., plant in January and broke ground nine months later in Rome, Ga., for a $141 million facility that will feature the firm´s MIRS automated manufacturing system.
