CARY, N.C. (Dec. 11)—Lord Corp. has cut the price for its controllable magneto-rheological shock absorber by 30 percent, from $300 to $210, as demand for the product increases. "The market for MR fluid technology continues to develop and has reached the point that it´s clear the commitment we made to develop this technology, even while so many other companies got out of it, is clearly paying off," said Lynn Yango, manager of sales and marketing and head of new business development for Lord's materials division. Delphi Automotive Systems Corp. is the first high-volume shock supplier to incorporate MR technology into its products. Its MagneRide shocks, which feature a controllable shock absorber it co-developed with Lord, are due out on the 2002 Cadillac Seville.
