LIONVILLE, Pa. (Dec. 7)—West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. is consolidating three divisions into two to ultimately expand its core segments. Pharmaceutical Systems and Drug Delivery Systems will become West's operating divisions and what's left of its Contract Services segment is being merged into Pharmaceutical Services. The consolidation follows West's sale of its contract packaging and manufacturing business, which was the largest unit of the firm's Contract Services segment, to DPT Lakewood Inc. for $26 million in cash and notes. The deal closed Nov. 30. West will use the proceeds to pay debt. Steve Ellers, executive vice president, was selected to direct the Pharmaceutical Services while Michael Myers, who recently joined the firm, will serve as president of the division.
