FINDLAY, Ohio (Dec. 4)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is partnering with the National Safety Council to educate consumers on tire safety. The three-year program will inform consumers of the steps they should be taking to keep their tires in peak condition. As part of the program, Cooper will distribute a brochure on tire maintenance and safety through its U.S. and Canadian dealers and make the information available on its Web site. The tire maker also will encourage dealers to provide the pamphlets to local driver education programs. For its part, the National Safety Council will distribute the guide through various channels that include its 37,500 members. The joint program follows similar efforts sponsored by the Rubber Manufacturers' Association and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
