SHEPTON MALLET, England (Nov. 27)—Huntsman Polyurethanes will shutter its Shepton Mallet polyols facility by year-end 2002. The closing will eliminate the jobs of 63 of the 83 workers employed at the site, which is the firm's headquarters for the United Kingdom and Ireland, Huntsman said. The closing reflects changes in the global market and in Huntsman's strategic direction, the company said. The Shepton facility specializes in polyols for making thermoplastic polyurethane formulations, particularly for shoe sole products. Another key activity involves blending materials for automotive applications.
