AKRON (Nov. 9)—DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers, the U.S. subsidiary of Dutch polymers group DSM N.V., has joined forces with GLS Corp. of Arlington Heights, Ill., to create Alliance Alloys L.L.C., a partnership aimed at developing specialty TPE alloys. The partnership will combine GLS' expertise in commercial products with DSM's experience in automotive and industrial markets, the firms said. Alliance Alloys will combine EPDM-based thermoplastic vulcanizates with a variety of materials, including styrenic block copolymers, copolyesters and thermoplastic polyurethanes. The first Alliance Alloys products to be introduced will be Versalloy- and Keltalloy-brand alloys. Versalloy, aimed at consumer applications such as tools, hardware and appliances, was commercialized in June. Keltalloy will be aimed at automotive and industrial markets.
