EVERBERG, Belgium (Oct. 31)—Huntsman Polyurethanes and BASF A.G.—together with their Chinese partners—have selected a chemical industry park near Shanghai, China, for the site of a proposed $1 billion world-scale isocyanates complex. The parties have completed a feasibility study covering the combined MDI/TDI complex and are scheduled to present the proposal to Shanghai municipal officials this week, according to Huntsman Polyurethanes. The new complex, slated for Shanghai's Caojing Chemical Industry Park, would comprise a 160,000 metric-ton-per-year MDI plant and associated precursors, a separate MDI finishing facility and a 130,000 ton-per-year TDI factory.
