KITCHENER, Ontario (Oct. 25)—Canadian tire and rubber machinery maker RMS Equipment Co. has joined with a Chinese equipment firm to expand its Asian presence and help lower its manufacturing costs. The Kitchener-based company announced Oct. 3 a cooperative agreement with Dalian Bingshan Rubber and Plastics Co. Ltd. of Dalian, China. The pact combines RMS' specialties—rubber extrusion equipment and tire-building technology—and Dalian's manufacturing resources and lower labor costs, said Jack O'Donnell, RMS president and CEO. RMS already has established considerable business in China. The company has put more than $25 million worth of equipment into the country in the past five to six years, O'Donnell said.
