HOUSTON (Oct. 25)—ExxonMobil Chemical Co. and Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. L.P. have settled a patent suit concerning metallocene catalyst technology and polymer compositions. The firms said they will cross license certain patent rights covering ExxonMobil's metallocene and Chevron Phillips' polyethylene composition technologies. The deal will enable both parties to pass immunity from suit to their customers, they said. With this settlement, ExxonMobil Chemical has eliminated all patent infringement litigation concerning its Exxpol metallocene technology, according to James Harris, senior vice president, Polymers, ExxonMobil Chemical.
