CLEVELAND (Oct. 18)—Valley Rubber Mixing Inc. has boosted production capacity at its facility within the past year, installing two mixers to aid the firm's output of custom mixed rubber compounds. The company said its capacity has increased to 5 million pounds per shift, giving Valley Rubber the ability to produce about 8 million pounds per shift,—which more than doubles the company's capacity,—said District Manager Dennis Salzwimmer. He talked about the project during Rubber Expo '01 in Cleveland. The cost of the investment was not disclosed. The equipment—which includes a No. 3 Banbury and a Kobe No. 4 mixer—allows Valley Rubber to process 20,000- to 40,000-pound orders in a relatively short period of time, the firm said. The smaller internal mixers also can be converted to accommodate 130- to 1,000-pound orders.
