CLEVELAND (Oct. 17)—Austrian injection molding press maker Engel Vertriebsgesellschaft GmbH has opened a plant in South Korea to serve its growing Asian customer base. The new factory, located in Pyongtaek, initially will be a final assembly point for rubber and plastics molding machines shipped from the company's headquarters in Schwertberg, Austria, John Timmerman, elastomer machinery manager for Engel North America, said at the ACS Rubber Division's Rubber Expo '01 in Cleveland, where Engel is exhibiting. Eventually, the unit will be capable of making up to 1,000 molding machines annually.
