QUINCY, Ill. (Oct. 4)—Quincy-based tire and wheel manufacturer Titan International Inc. has finalized two contracts with military branches—one for tires and its low sidewall tire and wheel assemblies and one for two-piece wheels. Titan subsidiary Titan Tire Corp. has been awarded a contract with the U.S. Marine Corps for the development of conventional tires and LSW assemblies for light armored vehicles. Attributes of the LSW design—including shorter, thicker sidewalls and a large-diameter wheel—would provide run-flat capabilities and extend tire life, the company said. Titan Wheel Corp. of Illinois also confirmed the company's largest military contract with the U.S. Army, a multi-year pact for new and replacement bolt-together wheels for various vehicles. The contract could be worth as much as $45 million, the firm said.
