SALISBURY, N.C. (Oct. 3)—KoSa has completed its $80 million technical filament renewal project at its Salisbury plant, the company announced. The project, the largest investment since the company's founding, adds four new spin-draw lines to the site. Buhler A.G. of Switzerland, Barmag A.G. of Germany, Salmoiraghi S.p.A. of Italy and Lockwood Greene of Spartanburg, S.C., have contributed to the renewal project, KoSa said, with Buhler providing solid-phase polycondensation polymerization technology, Barmag supplying extrusion and spinning systems and Salmoiraghi furnishing product-handling automation. "The renewal project was completed to vastly increase productivity and product quality to remain competitive in the global market," said Thomas Kehl, KoSa vice president and general manager, Technical Fibers.
