GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sep. 28)—The third annual Michelin Challenge Bibendum 2001, sponsored by Michelin North America Inc. and slated to be run Oct. 26-28 from Southern California to Las Vegas, will feature a diverse field that includes eight auto makers, several universities, independent companies and organizations. The Bibendum is a new-generation demonstration, giving an overview of the latest automotive technology, the company said. The 2001 event, the first held in North America, will include an exhibition of heavy trucks and buses that operate on "cleaner and greener" technologies, the tire maker said. Participating vehicles will represent the latest in gasoline and diesel technologies as well as vehicle technologies that run on natural gas, hydrogen, bio-fuels and electricity.
