AKRON (Sept. 24)—John P. Perduyn, Goodyear's senior communications official, is retiring after a 35-year career with the Akron tire maker. Perduyn, 62, said he will step down Dec. 31. Perduyn has been Goodyear's top-ranked spokesman since 1989, when he became Goodyear vice president of public affairs. In 1999, he became senior vice president of global communications. He also confirmed that the company has begun an internal and external search for his replacement. The position reports directly to Samir G. Gibara, Goodyear CEO and chairman.
