AKRON (Sept. 20)—The ACS Rubber Division is going ahead with its Oct. 16-19 meeting and Rubber Expo '01 in Cleveland, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Rudy School, division chairman from R.T. Vanderbilt Co. Inc., said that other than heightened security, no changes are scheduled for the event. Shortly before the attacks, the division had 2,200 preregistrations, about a normal number for that date, School said. "We expect a good turnout. Attendance might be off a little from what we've had in the past, but more because of economic conditions rather than the terrorist attacks," he said. Held every other year, the Rubber Expo is the world's largest exhibition devoted solely to the rubber industry.
