WATERFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 20)—GE Silicones purchased PolyOne Corp.'s Elastomers and Performance Additives Group's silicone rubber compounding customer lists and formulations on Sept. 18, allowing the firm to serve PolyOne customers. The cost of the customer lists and formulations was not disclosed. The customers will be serviced through GE Silicones' custom elastomers business, American Silicones Inc., which has facilities in Garrett, Ind. and Chino, Calif. The lists and formulations were purchased from PolyOne's silicone operation in Dyersburg, Tenn., a business that "we felt was not core and was not related" to the firm's other business, a PolyOne spokesman said. "We are proud and happy that GE would take this on," he said. He added that PolyOne is investing $45 million in its other Dyersburg plastic compounding and elastomer facilities.
