CLERMONT-FERRAND, France (Sept. 13)—Groupe Michelin will contribute $1 million to assist the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., the company said. The Michelin Relief Fund has been opened to Michelin's 128,000 employees globally who wish to make additional donations, the firm said. The Clermont-Ferrand group had no personnel directly injured in the attacks, the tire maker said, but it wanted to respond directly to the events. The tire maker has nearly 80 manufacturing facilities on five continents and sales operations in 170 countries.
