MONTREAL (Sept. 5)—Tire recycling firm Tirex Inc. has signed a contract with Animat Inc. of St.-Elie d'Orford, Quebec, to supply the manufacturer of recycled rubber mats with Rutex crumb rubber. Animat has ordered a minimum of 100,000 pounds of Rutex monthly for the next year, the contract being renewable. The value of the deal was not disclosed. Tirex produces Rutex through its patented TCS-1 cryogenic grinding system, which it is marketing in Europe, Asia and North and South America. The Animat deal is unrelated to Tirex's previously announced contract with Xerus Inc., a formulator of plastic-rubber composites based in Montreal and Quebec City.
