CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Sept. 4)—Goodrich Corp. plans to spin off its Engineered Industrial Products business by early 2002. The new company primarily will concentrate on the manufacture of specialty industrial bearings, compressor systems and sealing technologies, a company spokesman said. The firm will have a work force of about 5,000 globally and be comprised of what the spokesman termed several strong divisions, including Garlock Sealing Technologies, Garlock Bearings, Quincy, Stemco, Fairbanks Morse and recently acquired Glacier Industrial Bearings. Engineered Industrial Products also will get a new name by 2002, he said. The company will be headquartered in Charlotte.
