AGOURA HILLS, Calif. (Aug. 29)—Dunlop and Michelin tires took the top honors in the J.D. Power and Associates 2001 Original Equipment Tire Satisfaction Study. Dunlop tires ranked highest for the first time in the light truck OE category, while Michelin tires won the passenger tire competition for the fourth consecutive year. In the light truck category, which includes pickups, sport-utility vehicles and full-size vans, Dunlop-brand tires were followed by BFGoodrich, Michelin, Uniroyal, Goodyear, Bridgestone and Continental brands. Both Firestone and General brands ranked at or below the industry average. Following Michelin in the passenger tire segment, which includes cars and compact vans, were Pirelli, BFGoodrich, Continental and Dunlop. Brands at or below the industry average, in alphabetical order, were Bridgestone, Firestone, General, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Toyo, Uniroyal and Yokohama.
