ANSONIA, Conn. (Aug. 28)—Latex International, the mattress distribution arm of Latex Foam Products Inc., has added a second shift and personnel at its recently opened facility in Naugatuck, Conn., and increased its work force to about 25 from 20. The moves were made to help fill the shift, which was needed to meet customer demand, a company spokeswoman said. The 25 employees had worked for Latex Foam Products at its Ansonia manufacturing facility, which had employed 240 and was destroyed by a fire in May. Called Latex International Northeast, the new 33,000-sq.-ft. plant turns latex foam into mattress components and primarily distributes them to customers on the East Coast. Latex International also has a West Coast fabrication/distribution operation that recently almost tripled its size when it moved to a 93,000-sq.-ft. plant in La Mirada, Calif.
