JACKSON, Miss. (Aug. 20)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. has been dropped as a defendant in a personal injury case in Mississippi, the Associated Press has reported. Hinds County Circuit Judge James Graves Jr. dismissed the tire maker from the suit because it had settled its part of the case brought by Brenda Mayo of Biloxi. Mayo was partly paralyzed in a Ford Explorer rollover accident in Florida in which a Firestone tire on the vehicle failed. Paul S. Minor, the Biloxi attorney representing Mayo, could not be reached for comment, and a Bridgestone/Firestone spokeswoman said she had no information on the case.
