AKRON (Aug. 14)—Representatives of Ohio's polymer industry, state government and academic community have formed an organization to address the industry's global competitiveness. The Ohio Polymer Strategic Council held its first half-day convention on July 26. At the session, the group discussed issues facing Ohio's second-largest industry and its role in uniting government, industry and academia in countering the challenges. Thomas A. Waltermire, chairman and CEO of PolyOne Corp. was selected to chair the OPSC and Sharell Mikesell, recently retired vice president of technology for Advanced Elastomer Systems L.P., was named as executive director.
