DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 13)—Negotiators for Titan International Inc. and the United Steelworkers of America union bargained through the weekend of Aug. 11-12, but no contract agreement was finalized. Outstanding back-to-work issues need to be ironed out before a tentative agreement can be reached, a USWA spokesman said Aug. 13. Negotiations began Aug. 8, and are expected to continue during the week of Aug. 13, the spokesman said. USWA Local 164 has been on strike at Titan's Des Moines farm tire plant since May 1, 1998—the longest strike in tire industry history.
