MONTGOMERY, Ala. (July 12)—The widow of Robert Johnson Sr. has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. Johnson was driving his 1976 GMC Sierra Classic pickup on Interstate 65 in Shelby County, Ala., when the Firestone Steeltex tire on the right rear of the vehicle failed. The truck went out of control and overturned, killing Johnson. Ella Queen Johnson seeks unspecified punitive damages and court costs in the suit. "This is yet another instance of how Firestone has placed a dangerous and faulty product on the market," Johnson's attorney Jere L. Beasley said in a news release.
