AKRON (June 29)—The ACS Rubber Division is accepting nominations for six awards for 2002. The division is looking for candidates for the: Charles Goodyear Medal; Sparks-Thomas Award; Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award; George Stafford Whitby Award for Distinguished Teaching and Research; Fernley H. Banbury Awards; and the Chemistry of Thermoplastics Elastomers Award. The awards honor the achievements of rubber scientists, engineers, chemists and technologists. The winners will receive them at the association's spring meeting in Savannah, Ga., in April 2002. Details on the awards and nomination procedures are available at the divison's Web site, www.rubber.org. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 1.
