NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 25)—Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. said today its recall of 6.5 million 15-inch ATX, ATX II and Wilderness AT tires will officially conclude Aug. 29. The company has replaced more than 6.3 million of the tires to date, or about 97 percent of the total, and has "more than adequate" supplies to handle the remaining replacements, the company said in a news release. Bridgestone/Firestone announced the recall Aug. 9, three months after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started investigating the tires. The results of that investigation are expected to be released by the end of July.
