PARIS (June 14)—Goodyear has tripled radial aircraft tire production in response to growing market demand, the company announced on the eve of the 2001 Paris Air Show, where it will host an exhibit. The Akron-based tire maker has invested $10 million in the expansion of its sole North American aircraft tire outpost in Danville, Va., the company said, adding manufacturing space and installing a new tire-building system. Production began this month. Goodyear also produces aircraft tires at facilities in Bangkok, Thailand, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. No word was given on expansions at those sites.
