LYNNFIELD, Mass. (May 18)—Spurred by a 7-percent boost in sales to $4.6 million, GreenMan Technologies Inc. recorded net income of $192,176 in the second quarter ended March 31 compared to a net loss of $656,752 in the corresponding period last year. It was GreenMan's second consecutive profitable quarter. Net income in the first six months of the fiscal year was $204,099 on an almost 6-percent jump in sales to $9.3 million. GreenMan had a net loss of $715,804 in the fiscal half in 2000. The company's improvement was attributed to the improved performance of its southeastern U.S. operations, which were consolidated; an 18-percent improvement in tire volume; and an ongoing cost reduction program, the firm said.
