WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (May 15)—American Biltrite Inc. had a net loss of $2 million in the quarter ended March 31 compared to net income of $350,000 in the 2000 period. Sales for the three months fell almost 3 percent to $99.7 million from $102.4 million. Roger S. Marcus, chairman of the board and CEO, attributed the loss to the soft economy, which impacted all levels of the company's operations, but primarily its flooring segment.
