COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 14)—Lancaster Colony Corp. had sales of $272 million in the third fiscal quarter ended March 31, up 4 percent from $262 million in last year's third period. Net income fell 3 percent to $19.4 million from $20.1 million in the corresponding quarter. Net income for the first nine months of the fiscal year were $70.3 million, down 7 percent from $75.8 million in the previous nine months. Sales rose to $848 million from $845 million for the period. Earnings for both the quarter and first nine months were negatively impacted by record high natural gas costs, the company said.
