FINDLAY, Ohio—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. promoted Bruce E. Smith to vice president of manufacturing in its Commercial Products Division, and David M. Dryden to manager of research and technology for its tire group.
Smith will oversee the production operations of plants in Clarksdale, Miss.; Asheboro and Salisbury, N.C.; and Athens, Ga. He joined the tire maker in 1961 as a part-time employee and held several positions, most recently as vice president of manufacturing services at the Pirelli Tire North America facility in Hanford, Calif.
Dryden succeeds Bill Jones, who retired in January. Dryden is responsible for directing tire mechanics and materials research and developing advanced computer modeling technologies. He joined Cooper in 1981 as an analytical chemist and most recently served as manager of advanced technology.
