WASHINGTON (May 9)—Honeywell International Inc.'s Performance Fibers Division has filed suit before both the International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, claiming that South Korean manufacturer Hyosung Inc. is infringing Honeywell's patent on dimensionally stable polyester yarns for tire reinforcement. The company filed two suits because it wanted to preserve its option of seeking financial damages, which isn't allowed in ITC cases, a Honeywell spokeswoman said. No action has yet been scheduled on either suit.
