MARYSVILLE, Ohio (May 9)—Goodyear Conveyor Belt Products said the company will hike prices on various types of its conveyor belting 5 to 7 percent by May 21 because of continued increasing raw material costs, a release to distributors stated. "While we have made significant advances in product technology and cost containment, raw material costs continue to escalate," the company said. Goodyear's underground and Flexsteel belting will receive a 5- to 7-percent increase, splice material and services will undergo a 7-percent increase, and aboveground belting will increase 5 percent. The letter added the increase would not effect Goodyear Lightweight Products produced in Spring Hope, N.C., because the plant manufactures only polyvinyl chloride belting products.
