SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (May 8)—Lear Corp. and Beru Group of Germany are teaming up to develop tire-pressure monitoring systems that will use a vehicle's keyless remote entry system to relay the data. Ludwigsburg-based Beru claims to be the market leader in Europe for tire-pressure monitoring systems, supplying German car makers BMW A.G., DaimlerChrysler A.G. and Volkswagen Group. Initially, Lear will incorporate Beru's tire pressure monitoring technologies into its own keyless entry system technology. Lear described the deal as a "preferred relationship," whereby Lear will be able to incorporate and sell Beru products that are fully integrated with the vehicle´s body electronics. The companies did not comment on the potential size of the business being addressed.
