LYNNFIELD, Mass. (April 24)—GreenMan Technologies Inc. has purchased Tennessee Tire Recyclers Inc. for an undisclosed amount. TTRI provides scrap tire and disposal service in Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma as well as Tennessee, and has multiyear contracts to supply whole tires for the kilns of several large cement companies, according to a GreenMan release. While GreenMan executives couldn't be reached for comment, the release quotes TTRI President Tom Carter as saying, "We are excited about becoming an integral part of GreenMan's future and believe our expertise in the area of whole tire recycling will complement GreenMan's existing business." Also in the release, GreenMan CEO Bob Davis said the TTRI purchase will give the company the equivalent of nearly 25 million passenger tires' worth of scrap rubber annually. Lynnfield-based GreenMan collects scrap tires in several states and cuts them into rubber chips for tire-derived fuel.
