FAIRLAWN, Ohio (April 16)—Omnova Solutions Inc. has commissioned production of thermoplastic olefin and polyvinyl chloride roofing membranes at its new GenFlex Roofing Systems extrusion plant in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The 100,000-sq.-ft. leased facility is capable of producing membranes up to 12 feet wide. "Our unique wide width extrusion capabilities, combined with the company´s patented application equipment, will enable the GenFlex business to offer customers installation cost and time advantages over current products on the market," said Jon Apgar, president, Building Products Division. Pilot production began a few months ago, but the company held grand opening ceremonies for customers and community leaders April 13. Products made at the new facility will meet requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's and Department of Energy's Energy Star Program, which identifies products for saving energy and protecting the environment, Omnova said.
