FINDLAY, Ohio (April 12)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has closed six Oliver Rubber Co. facilities—including the Oliver administrative headquarters and distribution facility in Athens, Ga.—and integrated the retreading products maker´s operations into the Cooper Commercial Products Division in Findlay. The Athens headquarters closed April 1, and Oliver management and support staff are being transferred to Findlay, according to a Cooper spokeswoman. Facilities in Wadsworth, Ohio; Export, Pa.; and Paris, Texas, also have closed, with the Dallas plant in the process of closing, she added. "Our intention since purchasing Standard Products (Co.) was to integrate Oliver into our Commercial Products operations," she said, adding that Cooper will keep the Oliver brand name. She could not say how many jobs were lost in the integration process, but said they were "minimal" and "mostly through attrition."
