LOUGHBOROUGH, England (April 6)—Dunlop Precision Rubber, part of Dunlop Standard Aerospace Group, is to supply silicone rubber composite seals for a Pratt & Whitney engine to be used on a new Airbus 100-seater aircraft. Dunlop Precision´s first contract with Pratt & Whitney involves supplying four different glass fabric-reinforced seals in kit form for the engines on the Airbus A318, according to the company. The seals, which have passed tests at temperatures of 1100 degrees C for 15 minutes, can provide an effective fire barrier even when the polymer layer has burned away, Dunlop Precision added.
