WASHINGTON (April 2)—The Rubber Manufacturers Association has announced a $2,500 cash prize and a five-year American Automobile Association membership for the winner of a contest to name the "tire character" icon in its tire safety education campaign. The program, "Be Tire Smart—Play Your PART," was announced last year as a way to disseminate simple, easy-to-use tire maintenance information to U.S. motorists. PART stands for Pressure, Alignment, Rotation and Tread, according to RMA President Donald B. Shea. "Our campaign icon will be seen everywhere, reminding customers about the importance of tire care and safety," Shea said in a news release. The RMA is accepting names for the character between April 1 and May 31.
