CARLISLE, Pa. (March 30)—Roofing membrane manufacturer Carlisle SynTec has purchased EcoStar, a synthetic roofing materials supplier, to enhance its offerings in the premium steep-slope market. The Carlisle-based subsidiary of Carlisle Cos. Inc. said the acquisition of Vernon Hills, Ill.-based EcoStar will complement the firm´s flat roof commercial products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Included in the purchase are EcoStar´s technology for roofing tiles made from recycled rubber and plastic—a polymer called Starloy—a relatively new concept for the residential roofing market.
