WATERFORD, N.Y. (March 28)—GE Silicones has launched an e-commerce Web site for the custom compounded elastomers sector, offering comprehensive data on its products and services. Visitors to the site, www.GECustomElastomers.com, also can purchase products made by GE Silicones Americas, GE Bayer Silicones and GE Toshiba Silicones, according to GE Silicones. "Customers now have direct, personalized access to the critical tools and business processes needed to specify, sample and purchase custom silicone elastomers," Jeff Welde, elastomers business leader for GE Silicones, said in a statement. The development of GECustomElastomers.com is the latest investment by GE in the custom silicone elastomers market. In August, GE bought silicone rubber compounder American Silicones Inc. and integrated it with GE Silicones custom compounding operations in Chino, Calif.
