CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 14)—Scandura Conveyor Belting will increase prices on shipments, effective May 1, because of rising raw material and conveyor belt manufacturing costs, according to a company news release. The firm said the increase will vary by product, but will range from 4.5 to 7 percent in most cases. Scandura also said it will implement a fuel surcharge because of ongoing hikes in transportation costs. The company held the increase off as long as possible with the hope that the cost situation would show improvement, said David Rhodes, vice president of sales.
