WASHINGTON (March 12)—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has recalled 1,729 motorcycle tires—sizes 130/80R17 65H, 140/80R17 69H and 150/70R17 69H—manufactured between January 1994 and May 2000. Cooper has discovered that these tires may develop radial cracks between tread lugs in the shoulder area. In service conditions causing excessive flexing of the sidewalls, the shoulder/sidewall components may separate, causing deflation and tire failure. Cooper will replace the tires free of charge.
