TORONTO (March 7)—AirBoss of America Corp. incurred a loss of $447,000 in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 compared to net income of $1 million in the like period last year. Sales for the quarter increased about 20 percent to $23.3 million from $19.4 million in the 1999 quarter. Net income for the year fell more than twofold to $1.8 million from $4.8 million in 1999. Sales rose 15 percent to $89.8 million from $78.2 million the previous year. The results were negatively impacted by $1 million in reorganization costs for the company´s tire and molded parts divisions and a write-down of $227,800 in excess tire rim inventory. Of that write-down, about $717,900 was incurred in the fourth quarter. The reorganization reflects severance pay for laid off workers and accelerated asset amortization related to the downsizing of AirBoss´ Michigan plant.
